Description:
The role of the Mechanical Drafter is to work closely with discipline designers, leads and managers to develop mechanical detailed construction drawings. The drafter will work closely with a mentor in learning and preparing mechanical deliverables. The drafter will maintain strong attention to detail and take a proactive approach in engaging with team members to efficiently compose, draft, proof, and deliver drawings.
Responsibilities:
- Assist other designers in composing, drafting, proofing and distributing drawing packages in collaboration with project managers/engineers, discipline leads, and discipline managers.
- Assist designers in delivering high-quality drawing deliverables including:
- Complex plans and details
- Isos
- Plot Plans
- Structural details
- Piping Plans
- Shop Drawings
- 3D Model
- PFD
- P&ID drawings
- PFD drawings
- Civil foundation design
- Plant as build
- Plant layout
- B.O.M.
- Work with peers, designer, discipline leads, and managers to successfully complete construction packages with high quality.
- Support engineering, project management, and project documentation efforts.
- Utilize existing standards and specifications and support engineers and designers in developing new standards and specifications per company and client requirements.
- Learn nomenclature, specifications, and symbols.
- Assist in walking down facilities for data collection and developing as-built drawings.
- Regularly interact with personnel with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Maintain high regard for personal safety and for the safety of company assets and employees.
Qualifications:
- 2 year of industry experience or an Associates Degree in drafting/design
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, and AutoCAD suite.
- Familiarity with Plant 3D and CadWorx a plus.
- Must be able to take direction, have a willingness to learn and retain and a fast pace, and have strong communication skills.
- Occasional travel for site walk-downs and client meetings.
- Clear a drug screen and background check.
